How we check words

Every page starts as a draft, and a dialect form only appears once it passes a check. When we aren't sure how a dialect says something, we leave that dialect off the page.

The three levels

Checked by two AI models Two independent models agreed on the form. This is where most pages start.

Checked by native speakers Someone who grew up speaking that dialect read it and confirmed it.

Anything that fails both is cut, not hedged.

About the audio

Right now the audio is an AI voice tuned to each dialect. We're replacing it with recordings of real speakers, starting with Palestinian Arabic, and each clip will say which it is.

Tell us how your family says it

Dialects shift from city to city and from one generation to the next. If your family says something differently, we want to hear it. A way to send us your version is coming soon.
